Paro’s four shows at Shilpakala Academy

Theatre group Desh Natak will stage four shows of its latest production “Paro” in four consecutive days at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the capital. The first show of the play will be staged at the Studio Theater Hall of the academy this evening.

Written and directed by Masum Reza, “Paro” is the 25th production of the troupe. The drama revolves around the story of a woman, featuring only one character. Sushoma Sarkar is the cast of the play.

Director Masum Reza said, “The story of “Paro” revolves around a woman named Paromita. I have depicted the bitter experiences of women through her. The play highlights the struggles of women and the conflicts between a woman and her inner self. It’s a mirror of a woman’s different stages of life.”

Ayan Chowdhury is the assistant director of “Paro”. Nasirul Huq Khokon and Faruk Khan Titu designed the stage lighting and Ashim Kumar Natta designed the background music for the play.

The other shows of the play are scheduled to stage at the same venue.

Desh Natak premiered the play on 23 January this year. Previously, Bonna Mirza starred in “Paro”. The US expatriate actor returned to the stage after a long break with the drama.

Desh Natak, a renowned theatre group in Bangladesh was formed in 1987. Since its inception, it has produced 22 drama productions staged in the country and abroad.
