Covid-19 claimed the lives of 10 more patients and infected 6,676 others across Bangladesh in 24 hours ending Monday morning.

With the latest statistics, the total death toll hits 28,154 and infections to 16,24,387 since the country had recorded the first Covid infection on March 8, 2020, and death from the viral disease on March 18, 2020.

The day’s test positivity rate is 20.88 per cent.

Four of the deceased are male patients while the remaining six are female patients.

The Directorate General of Health Services came up with the latest statistics on its daily Covid press release.

A total of 31,980 samples have been tested during the reporting period across the country at 855 laboratories while Bangladesh had tested 1,18,93,405 samples as of January 17.

In the past 24 hours, 427 patients recovered from the viral disease totalling the recovery to 15,53,320.

Seven of the deaths were reported in Dhaka division, two in Chattogram division and the remaining one death was reported in Barishal division, according to the DGHS data.
