Making best use of modern science and technologies, Rangpur unit of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has rescued a cheated policeman (Retired) and arrested a fake ‘executive magistrate.’

A special PBI operational team detained the fake female ‘executive magistrate’ Anika Tasnim Sarker alias Anamika from Dinajpur district on Wednesday night.

Superintendent of Police (SP) of Rangpur PBI ABM Jakir Hossain said victim Sergeant Instructor (Jail) Anzu Mian met the fake ‘executive magistrate’ Anamika while travelling by air in a flight six to seven months ago when they exchanged mobile phone numbers.

They have frequently talked over cell phones since they met.

Anamika informed Anzu Mian that she is working in Dinajpur Collectorate as an executive magistrate.

Anzu Mian went missing on August 2 last after he left his home in Rangpur city by a motorcycle.

As Anzu Mian did not return home on the day, his wife brought the matter into the notice of Rangpur unit of PBI and other police units and filed a general diary with Kotwali police station of Rangpur Metropolitan Police on August 3 last.

On August 2 last, Anamika over her cell phone made a call to Anzu Mian and asked him to go to Rangpur Zilla School gate in the morning when Anzu Mian went there riding on his motorcycle.

“On his arrival there, Anzu Mian saw that Anamika was waiting in a microbus at Rangpur Zilla School Gate. Suddenly, some three to four unknown persons appeared there and took Anzu Mian forcibly to a nearby drug rehabilitation centre,” SP Jakir said.

After searching his body at the drug rehabilitation centre, the unknown people snatched away Taka 44,250, a Gucci Wrist watch, a gold-made ring and driving license from Anzu Mian.

“When asked by Anzu Mian, the unknown people told him that he was taken to the drug rehabilitation centre on request of ‘executive magistrate’ Anamika for his treatment on drug addiction,” the PBI SP said.

Later, ‘executive magistrate’ Anamika took away the ‘seized’ money and other goods from the authority of the drug rehabilitation centre and soon left the place.

Using the latest digitised information and communication technologies, PBI rescued Anzu Mian from the drug rehabilitation centre on August 3 and a case was filed in this connection with Kotwali police station on August 4 last.

“As per direction of Deputy Inspector General of PBI Banaj Kumar Majumder, a special operational team of PBI conducted a raid and arrested Anamika from Dinajpur last night,” SP Jakir said.

“We are preparing to produce the arrested fake ‘executive magistrate’ before a Rangpur court today,” Investigation Officer of the case Sub-inspector Zobaydul Islam told journalists
