Bangladeshi youth shot to death by BSF at Lalmonirhat border

A Bangladeshi youth was shot to death by the Indian Border Security Force soldiers in Dahagram Border area of Patgram upazila in Lalmonirhat on early Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Rafiul Iislam Tuklu, 33, son of Afzal Hossain of village Dagapara of Patgram upazila.

Patgram police acting officer-in-charge Ferdous Wahid, quoting local people, said that a group of youth was trying to go to India crossing the border at about 4:30am.

A patrol team of BSF from Arjun Camp opened fire on the Bangladeshi youths, leaving Tuklu dead on the spot.

Later the BSF soldiers took the body and handed it over to the Mekhliganj police of India.

Border Guard Bangladesh Panbari Camp subadar Amanuzzaman confirmed the incident and said that the BGB sent a letter to the BSF protesting at the murder.
