BGB detains two Indian nationals along Rajshahi border

Border Guard Bangladesh members have detained two Indian nationals in Yusufpur border outpost area in Charghat Upazila of Rajshahi.

The detainees were Ainal Haque, 55, son of Abdur Rahim, and Shoaib Nabi Sheikh, 40, son of Jerman Ali, both from Lalkup village under Sagarpara police station of Murshidabad district, West Bengal.

 

The two Indian nationals had crossed the River Padma and entered approximately 500 yards into Bangladesh territory from the border pillar on Wednesday afternoon, said Lieutenant Colonel Matiul Islam Mondal, commander of BGB’s 1st Battalion in Rajshahi.

The detainees were handed over to the Charghat police for legal action.

Lieutenant. Colonel. Matiul Islam Mondal also said surveillance and patrolling along the Rajshahi border was intensified to prevent illegal entry from India.
