Rubel was a sixth-semester student in the Power Department at Kushtia Polytechnic Institute. He used to live at the third floor of a four-storey building in Courtpara area of Kushtia.
According to police, local people found Rubel with his hands and feet tied with a white rope and his mouth covered with a red piece of cloth. Later, he was rushed to Kushtia General Hospital. As his condition worsened, he was referred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, but he died from his injuries on the way at around 12:30am, said doctors.
