The Border Guard Bangladesh on Sunday evening detained former land minister and a former Awami League lawmaker for Khulna-5 Narayan Chandra Chanda while he was fleeing India through Maheshpur border in Jhenaidah district.

BGB public relations officer Shoriful Islam confirmed it to the media.

Narayan Chandra took the responsibilities of the land ministry after the 12th general elections held on January 7.

Earlier, he was elected as a member of parliament in elections held in 2008, 2014 and 2018.
