A man died and another was injured in a collision between a bus and a car in Osmaninagar upazila of Sylhet on Thursday morning.

The incident took place at about 6:30am on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Ahmadnagar. The identity of the deceased car driver is yet to be ascertained.

According to local people, it was a head-on collision between a Sylhet-bound bus and a car heading towards the opposite direction. Witnesses said that the driver of the car might have fallen asleep, leading the car colliding directly with the bus.

Passenger in the car sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital by local people.

Teams from Osmaninagar Police Station and Tajpur Fire Service used heavy machinery to extract the driver’s body from the wreckage of the car.

Masudul Amin, officer-in-charge of Osmaninagar Police Station, confirmed the incident.
