On Friday, at least 2,900 patients were being treated at different hospitals around the country, including 1,282 in the capital and 1,618 in the districts.
Bangladesh has been in an uphill struggle against dengue this year with Dhaka being at the centre of the disease’s large-scale outbreak.
So far this year, 80,040 people were hospitalised with the disease, according to official account.
The huge number of dengue patients has put a severe strain on the already overwhelmed medical system of the country.
The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research so far received reports of 203 ‘possible’ dengue deaths, though according to the unofficial count, dengue has claimed many more lives this year.
