Shawdesh Desk: The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has nominated Bangladesh People’s Party Chairman Rita Rahman, an ally of 20-party alliance, as the candidate who will contest in the Rangpur-3 constituency by-poll with the symbol of sheaf of paddy.

Senior joint secretary general of the party Ruhul Kabir Rizvi revealed this information at a press conference at the party’s central office at Nayapalatan in the capital on Sunday morning.

In the last 11th parliamentary elections, BNP nominated Rita Rahman as alliance candidate without giving the party candidate.

The parliamentary seat of Rangpur fell vacant after the death of Jatiya Party chairman Hussain Muhammad Ershad on July 14.
