A specialist doctor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University’s cardiology department, Professor SM Mustafa Zaman, filed a general diary with Dhanmondi police station alleging that he had received death threats over war crimes convict Delawar Hossain Sayedee’s death at the hospital.
The GD was filed with the police station Tuesday night.
Meanwhile, BSMMU authorities have postponed their briefing on late Sayedee’s treatment.
The briefing was scheduled to be held on Wednesday morning and BSMMU authorities issued messages to journalists in this regard on Tuesday.
However, on Wednesday morning, BSMMU announced that the briefing was postponed due to unavoidable circumstances.
Sayedee, 86, was admitted to BSMMU Sunday might and died at 8:40pm on Monday. He was under the care of BSMMU cardiology department chairman professor Chowdhury Meshkat Ahmed and Professor Mustafa Zaman was a member of the specialist team that provided treatment to Sayedee.
Mustafa Zaman said that they treated Sayedee properly and fulfilled all the tasks rightly. Doctors did not give him any wrong treatment, he said.
‘However, baseless rumours targeting me were circulated online. Many even issued death threats on social media,’ he added.
Dhanmondi police officer-in-charge Parvez Islam said that they would take legal actions over the incident.
