Bangladesh reports six more Covid deaths

Bangladesh reported six more Covid deaths on Tuesday amid a considerable decline in new daily cases.

The daily test positivity rate stood at 6.97 per cent as 287 out of 4,120 samples tested were found positive for novel coronavirus in 24 hours till 8:00am, said the daily Covid situation report on Tuesday.

Five of the new deceased were men. The youngest of them was aged between 21 and 30 years.

Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions reported one death each while Chattogram and Rajshahi divisions reported two deaths each.

Bangladesh has so far endured four waves of Covid-19 after it was first detected in the country on March 8, 2020.

Of the new patients, 199 were detected in Dhaka division, including 189 in Dhaka district alone, followed by 41 in Chattogram, 18 in Rajshahi, 10 in Mymensingh, 9 in Sylhet, 5 in Rangpur and 3 in Barishal, and 2 in Khulna.

So far, 29,408 people have died of Covid-19 in Bangladesh, according to the official account, and the cumulative number of Covid patients has reached 20,33,119.
