A man, who set fire to himself following a family feud on Friday, died while undergoing treatment at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Shyamol Bormon, 33, a resident of Hajaribagh area in Dhaka.

Hajaribagh police sub-inspector Sheikh Jibon, quoting the victim’s family, said that Shyamol poured kerosene on himself and set himself on fire on Friday morning, following an altercation with his wife.

His family and local people rescued him and took him to Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute where he died from his injuries.

The hospital’s residential surgeon AM Ayub Hossain said that Shyamol suffered 80 per cent burns and he was undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital.

The body was kept at Dhaka Medical College Morgue for post-mortem examinations.
