‘Tough movement for Khaleda’s release’

Shawdesh Desk:

BNP leader Zainul Abedin Farroque has said their party will soon take to the streets intensifying its movement for the release of party chairperson Khaleda Zia.
He came up with the assertion while addressing a human chain program organized by Aparajeyo Bangladesh, a pro-BNP platform, in demand of the release of Khaleda Zia  in front of the National Press Club yesterday.
Farroque said, “Our party will take tough action programs soon to strengthen our movement for releasing Khaleda Zia from jail.” “We hope the government will soon take steps for freeing Khaleda Zia. Or else, its throne will be shaken in the face of a strong movement across the country,” he further said.
Farroque, a member of BNP chairperson’s advisory council and ex-Chief Whip, urged their party leaders and activists to get united forgetting all misunderstandings and divisions among them to take to the streets with a fresh vigor. The BNP leader said the government has long been suppressing their party leaders and activists resorting to killing, enforced disappearance and various repressive acts to hang onto power.
Farroque alleged that their ailing party chairperson Khaleda Zia has been kept in jail in a ‘false and fabricated’ case. “Had the current government been a democratic and human one, our leader wouldn’t have stayed in jail for so many days.”
He also criticized the government for what he said not standing beside flood-affected people with adequate relief materials to ease their sufferings.
