“There is no lack of formalities for discussion, but it yields no outcome,” BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed said, confirming the meeting while addressing a programme in the capital, Dhaka, on Saturday.

Blaming the government for wasting time in the name of reform, he said, “The government must hold the national election before December, as there is no reason to delay it beyond the month.”

The BNP leader also urged the government to explain whether there is any logical reason to hold the election after December.
