A fire that broke out at Rangpur Medical College Hospital Monday morning has been brought under control.
Rangpur Fire Service deputy director Md Salehuddin said the fire broke out at the corridor of Ward No 7 on the third floor of the hospital around 10 am.
Six units of fire service rushed to the spot brought the blaze under control after one hour. Five service workers suffered injuries while trying to extinguish the blaze.
All the 38 patients of the ward were moved to a safer place when the ward caught fire, he said.
The fire gutted furniture, hospital beds and medical equipment of the ward.
The origin of the fire could not be known yet, said Salehuddin.
