Abu Hasan Mirja, chairman of Madhainagar Union Parishad in Tarash upazila of Dinajpur, died from coronavirus infections at a hospital in the capital on Monday morning.

The chairman, who was also a secretary of Madhainagar union Awami League, breathed his last at Ibn Sina Specialised Hospital in Dhanmondi around 6:00 am while on life support there.

Babul Sheikh, General Secretary of Tarash Upazila UP Chairman Forum and Chairman of the Sadar Union Parishad, confirmed the matter, adding that Mirja was tested positive for the virus on September 4.

He is survived by his wife, a son, a daughter and a host of well wishers to mourn his death.
