2 held with 16,000 Yaba pills in city

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two people along with 16,000 pieces of Yaba tablets from Kafrul area in the capital on Wednesday.

The arrestees were identified as Zahidul Islam Sumon alias Sumon Khan, 35 and drug lord Mrs Rehena, 33.

The members of the elite force also recovered Tk 588,900 from their possession which they earned by selling the drugs.

Tipped-off, RAB conducted a raid at the ground floor of a residential building in the area and arrested them with the Yaba pills and money, Sajedul Islam Sajal, Senior ASP of RAB-4, said.

Mentioning that Suman and Rehena are two top Yaba traders in the capital, the RAB official said the arrestees are accused in a number of cases filed with several police stations in the capital.

“They brought Yaba from Cox’s Bazar and supplied to retailers and wholesalers in various areas of the capital including Kafrul, Pallabi and Mirpur since long,” the police super said.

A process is underway to take legal action against them, Sajedul Islam added.
