A youth was lynched by an angry mob after he stabbed a man to death with a knife over previous enmity at Bajua village of Dakop upazila in Khulna on Tuesday morning.

The deceased were identified as Nil Utpal, 28, son of Sukumar and Emon, 19, son of Badal Hossain, both of them hailing from the area.

Shafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Dakop Police Station, said that Emon went to the Utpal’s house and suddenly stabbed him over a trifling issue regarding pasturing cattle in Bajua SN Degree College field at 8:00 am in the area, leaving him injured.

Later, Utpal died on the way to hospital while angry villagers caught criminal Emon and gave him a good thrashing, leaving Emon seriously injured, he said.

The OC said Emon was taken to Dakop Upazila Health Complex where duty doctor declared him dead.
