Shawdesh Desk: A retired police member was murdered in an attack by his rivals at Mohammadpur upazila of Magura district on Monday night.

The deceased was identified as Abu Sayeed Molla, 60, son of Nurul Islam Molla of Balidia village in the area.

OC Taroknath Biswas of Mohammadpur Thana confirming the matter said the ex-police man was returning home from Baroria fair in the neighbouring village. Miscreants from his opposition group stabbed him indiscriminately when he reached Balidia Madhyapara, leaving him dead on the spot, the OC added.
A pent up situation was prevailing in the village following the incident. Police deployed in the area to keep the situation under control, OC Tarok added.
