‘Human dog’ at Hatirjheel: Performers express sorrow for the ‘performing art’

Shawdesh Desk: Dhaka University student Sejuti and her co-performer Tutul Chowdhury have expressed sorrow for orchestrating a ‘performing art’ with a ‘human dog’ in the capital’s Hatirjheel area.

They expressed the regret at the office of the Deputy Police Commissioner (Tejgaon division) as police summoned them for staging such performing art, which goes against the culture of the country, without prior permission.

Tejgaon office of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) disclosed the information on their Facebook page.
Sejuti and Tutul also gave a written statement mentioning that they will not stage such performance again in the country.

Earlier, some photos of Sejuti, a student of Drawing and Painting Department under Faculty of Fine Arts of Dhaka University and Tutul Chowdhury, orchestrating a ‘performing art’ with a ‘human dog’ in the capital’s Hatirjheel area went viral on social media platforms, including Facebook.

In the photos, it was seen that Sejuti was walking holding the leash of the ‘human dog’ while Tutul followed the girl like her pet dog.

Tutul was spotted walking on his hands and feet like pet dogs following Sejuti’s footsteps.

The duo demonstrated the performing art, titled ‘From Portfolio of Dogness’. They termed it as a ‘sociological and behavioural’ case study.

On information, the term performing arts denote a special form of art, where artists use their voices, body parts to convey artistic expression by imitating objects and animals.
