A youth was beaten to death by a group of unidentified killers in Rajshahi city on Saturday night.

The deceased was identified as Mim, 25, son of Abdul Momin of Ramchandrapur area in the city.

Witnesses said that a group of youths forcibly picked up Mim from Sagarpara area at about 7:45pm on Saturday suspecting that he was involved in the Awami league politics and attacked the student-led procession in Rajshahi on August 6.

Later, they left Mim in front of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital at about 10:30pm.

Sakar K Biswas, in-charge of RMCH emergency department, told New Age that Mim was brought to the hospital dead.

‘The body bore several marks of severe injuries including extreme beating and stabbing. We have kept the body at the hospital morgue,’ he added.

Tajmul Islam, inspector (investigation) of Boalia Model Police Station, said that they were looking into the incident.

Sabina Yeasmin, additional deputy police commissioner (media) of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police, said that the police had detained four people and were interrogating them about the incident.
