A Dhaka court on Tuesday put Juba League’s expelled president Ismail Chowdhury Samrat on a 10-day remand in two cases.
Metropolitan magistrate Tofazzal Hossain allowed the Crime Investigation Department five days to interrogate Samrat in a narcotics case and five days to interrogate him in an arms case while the department pleaded for 10 days to grill him in each of the cases.
Earlier on October 6, the Rapid Action Battalion arrested pro-Awami League youth organisation Jubo League’s Dhaka south city unit president Ismail Chowdhury Samrat along with his associate Armanul Haque Arman at Chuddagram in Cumilla.
Samrat was sentenced to six-month imprisonment by a RAB executive magistrate for violating the wildlife protection law.
Arman was also sentenced to six-month imprisonment for violating the anti-narcotics law.
