Another accused in Abrar murder case arrested in Satkhira

Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested another accused in BUET student Abrar Fahad murder case from Shyamnagar upazila of Satkhira on Friday afternoon.

Arrestee Shamim Billah, 21, is son of Aminur Rahman alias Bablu Sardar and a second year student of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering Department of the BUET.

Confirming this to media, Shyamnagar Police Station inspector (investigation) Anisur Rahman Molla said, “A team of DB police arrested Shamim Billah from Khanpur village of Bhurulia union in upazila this afternoon.”

The team of DB police has already headed towards Dhaka, he said.

With the arrest of Shamim Billah, a total of 18 accused have so far been held in the case.

Abrar Fahad, 21, a student of electrical and electronic engineering department, was beaten to death reportedly by BCL leaders at Sher-e-Bangla Hall of the university.

He was found dead on the staircase of the dormitory early Monday.

Abrar’s father Barkatullah filed the case with Chawkbazar Police station on Monday evening accusing 19 people.

The case was transferred to the Detective Branch of police on Tuesday for investigation.
