Chhayanaut celebrated Sharat, the third season in Bengali calendar, arranging a cultural show at the Bokultala of Faculty of Fine Arts of Dhaka University on Friday.

Artistes paid homage to the season performing diverse songs and dance recitals.

The programme commenced with a group dance recital synchronised with the song Dekho dekho shuktara ankhi meli chai.

In solos, Avaya Dutta sang Amar raat pohale, Srabani Majumder sang Omol dhol pale legeche, Sutapa Saha sang Ogo ke bajay bashori, Mostafizur Rahman Turjo rendered Ami choncholo hey, Tania Mannan rendered Esho sharater omol mahima, Shreya Ghosh sang Shokorun benu bajay ke, Ayrin Parvin Anna sang Eito tomar prem, Shukla Pal Shetu rendered Je chayare dhorbo bole, Ashim Dutta rendered Tomar shonar thalay, Naima Islam Naz rendered Hridoye chile jege, Partha Pratim Roy sang Ami chini go chini, Sejuti Barua rendered Keno je mon bhole.

Besides, artistes presented colourful group dance recitals synchronised with the songs like Alor omol komol khani, Tomra ja bolo tai bolo, Sharat tomar arun alor anjali and Aaj dhaner khete to the delight of the audience.

The artistes were accompanied by Enamul Haque Omer and Subir Sen on tabla, Ashit Biswas on esraj and Pradip Roy on mandira.

‘I cannot attend programmes now-a-days as I am unwell. Today I decided to attend the programme and I really enjoyed the performances. We did not arrange the programme earlier due to unavoidable reasons. I hope the audience found the event entertaining,’ Sanjida Khatun, president of Chhayanaut, told New Age.

‘Every year we celebrate Sharat by organising a cultural show. Through the programme we want to remind the younger generations of their roots and cultural heritage. We look forward to organising more programmes in the future,’ Laisa Ahmed Lisa, general secretary of Chhayanaut, told New Age.

The programme ended with the group rendition of the national anthem Amar shonar bangla.
