A mother of two children died of dengue fever in Chowgacha upazila of Jashore on Monday.

The woman identified as Shima Khatun, 35, wife of Billal Hossain of Patibila village of the upazila, died on way to home from hospital yesterday afternoon.

A ward member of Patibila union confirmed the death news of Shima Khatun.

Mofizur Rahman, father-in-law of the deceased, said her daughter-in-law was admitted at Chowgacha Upazila Health Complex a week ago with severe fever. She was diagnosed with dengue there and was referred to Jashore General Hospital two days later.

Finding no bed there, they admitted Shima to Ibne Sina Hospital. She had been undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU) for five days there. Later, she was discharged on Monday 2:00 pm as her condition deteriorated. She died on way to home, said Mofizur.

Doctor of the hospital said the platelet of the patient’ blood dropped to 6000. The relatives of the patient took her from the hospital finding no improvement.
