Security at the Supreme Court has been heightened as part of precautionary measures in light of the ongoing situation in the country.

The measures were implemented since Saturday morning, a Supreme Court official confirmed the matter.

“There is a statue of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman inside the Supreme Court premises. Therefore, security has been reinforced as a precautionary step,” he said.

Earlier on 5 February, the house of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Dhanmondi 32 was demolished using a crane. On Wednesday, following a declaration by Hasnat Abdullah, the convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, to free Bangladesh from being a ‘sanctuary of fascism,’ the house was attacked and set on fire. Finally, at 11:06 p.m., the demolition of the house began.
