Salman F Rahman, former private industry affairs adviser to ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, and former state minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak have been placed on a four-day remand each in a case filed over attempt to murder Dhaka College student Md Shamim during anti-discrimination student movement on July 16.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Imran Ahammed passed the order on Wednesday as police produced the two accused before the court and pleaded for a seven-day remand each in the case.
According to the case documents, Md Shamim, a student of Dhaka College, joined a procession of the anti-discrimination student movement in front of their college on July 16.
The complainant alleged that leaders and activists of Awami League and its front organisations attacked the rally, firing indiscriminately at the students, leaving Shamim critically injuried.
On November 28, he later filed the case with the New Market Police Station.
On August 13, Salman F Rahman was arrested from Sadarghat while, Palak was arrested from Nikunja area of the capital the next day.
