Bangladesh women’s team secured a 23-run win against their Pakistan counterparts in their second and final warm-up match ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, starting in the United Arab Emirates on October 3.

Bangladesh put on a strong comeback, showing much improvement in their batting performance in the second match following a 33-run defeat in the first warm-up against Sri Lanka on Saturday.

Middle-order batter Shorna Akter’s blazing 17-ball 28 propelled Bangladesh to set a 141-run target, and thanks to the bowlers, they restricted their Asian counterparts to 117 all out in 18.4 overs.

Electing to bat first, Bangladesh openers Sathi Rani and Dilara Akter put together 33 runs for the first wicket.

Dilara perished (10), getting castled by Sadia Iqbal, the standout bowler for the Pakistan side with 2-19.

Sathi (23) also had to depart in the next over, leaving the scoreboard at 35-2. Skipper Nigar Sultana Joty scored 18 and forged a 24-run partnership before Sobhana Mostary got dismissed on 15.

Bangladesh lost wickets at regular intervals as the batters struggled to form big partnerships; however, the individual small contributions guided them to reach a decent total of 140-7 in the allotted overs.

In reply, Pakistan were all out for 117, with Omaima Sohail making the highest 33 while both Gull Feroza and Fatima Sana scored 17 runs.

For Bangladesh, Marufa Akter, Fahima Khatun, Rabeya Khan, and Shorna scalped two wickets each.

Bangladesh begin their campaign in the main tournament against  Scotland at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Thursday.
