Two people killed in Lakshmipur road accident

A man and his granddaughter were killed after being hit by a bus while crossing a road in Lakshmipur Sadar upazila on Monday morning.

The deceased were identified as Nasir Uddin, 65, and his granddaughter Mim Akter, 4, hailing from Bhola, a nearby district of Lakshmipur.

 

Police and locals said the victims got on a bus from Majhuchowdhuryhat to go to Chattogram in the morning.

As the bus stopped at a refueling station to refill fuel at about 9:00am Nasir Uddin and her granddaughter got off the bus.

When they were crossing Dhaka-Lakshmipur regional road another bus ran over them, leaving the child dead on the spot and her grandfather critically injured.

Nasir was taken to Sadar Hospital where he died from his injuries during treatment, said the hospital’s resident medical officer Aurup Pal, adding that the bodies were sent to the hospital morgue for post-mortem examinations.

Chandraganj Highway Police Station’s officer-in-charge Ruhul Amin confirmed the matter and said no one was arrested in this connection.
