Local Awami League leader stabbed to death in Narsingdi

A former chairman of Meherpara union was stabbed to death by miscreants at Bhagirathpur in Sadar upazila of Narsingdi district on early Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Mahbubul Hasan, 40, general secretary of the Meherpara union unit of Awami League.

Quoting witnesses, Mostafizur Rahman, superintendent of Narsingdi Police, said that seven to eight miscreants swooped on Mahbubul at about 12:15am and stabbed him indiscriminately with sharp weapons.

The miscreants carried out the attack when Mahbubul, along with eight to 10 of his followers, was returning home from the AL office.

Two people were injured in the attack as they tried to save the local Awami League leader. They were taken to Sadar Hospital where the doctors declared Mahbubul dead.
