Green chili turns red hot as price skyrockets

Shawdesh Desk:

The price of green chili has skyrocketed from Tk160 per kg to Tk240 per kg within a week in the kitchen markets of the capital, which traders have attributed to a reduction in local production of this essential commodity.

The market for essential goods remains unstable, with the prices of various products continually rising, creating a crisis for consumers. Despite the government’s orders for strict market monitoring, the influence of syndicates remains unabated. Experts said that hoarders are creating artificial shortages to drive up the prices of consumer goods.

Visiting different kitchen markets at Mirpur 6, 11, 12, Shewrapara and Mohammadpur on Friday, it was seen that the price of green chilli has increased by Tk80 and was sold at Tk240 per kg.
