Former Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal general secretary Humayun Kabir Hiru, also a former lawmaker, died early Friday at his village home in Barguna suffering from old age complications.

He was 75.

He left behind his family members and a host of well-wishers to mourn his death.

Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal-JSD president ASM Abdur Rob and general secretary Shahid Uddin Mahmud Shapon expressed their deep shock at his death.

They said that his role in establishing the JSD as a political party would be remembered for a long time.

His body was buried in his village in Barguna, a JSD press release said.
