Diabate hits five in MSC’s big win

Malian forward Souleymane Diabate struck five times as Mohammedan Sporting Club earned this season’s biggest win in the Bangladesh Premier League when they beat Brothers Union 8-0 at the Rofique Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh on Saturday.

In another match in Rajshahi, Brazilian midfielder Miguel Damasceno’s 23rd minute strike helped holders Bashundhara Kings manage a solitary goal win over Fortis Football Club.

 

Meanwhile, Chittagong Abahani beat Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society 2-1 in the other match of the day at the Birshreshtha Flight Lt Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj.

In Mymensingh, apart from Diabate’s (43rd, 45th, 68th, 72nd, 89th) five goals, midfielder Shahriar Emon (34th), forward Jewel Mia (75th), and Nigerian defender Emmanuel Tony (87th) scored apiece for Mohammedan.

With the win, Mohammedan remained in second place in the 10-team table with 26 points, seven wins, and five draws from 12 outings. In the first leg, Mohammedan beat the bottom-placed Brothers by 5-1 goals.

Kings, who defeated Fortis FC 3-1 in the first leg, are leading the table with 31 points after the 12th round as they registered 10 wins against one draw and one loss.

In Munshiganj, seventh-placed Ctg Abahani’s Nigerian forward Paul Seun Komolafe (15th) and defender Rayhan Hasan (48th) scored once each, while Ghanaian forward Ernest Boateng (57th) pulled one goal back for ninth-placed Rahmatganj.
