Ship capsize in Bay: 14 sailors rescued

Shawdesh Desk: Bangladesh Navy on Friday morning rescued 14 crew members of a container-laden cargo which capsized in the Bay on Thursday night.

A press release issued by the Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR) said MV Argo, carrying 152 containers, sank in the rough sea near Payra Fairway Bouya on Thursday night while heading towards Kolkata from Chattogram .

Being informed, Navy ship Sangu went to the scene and rescued 14 crew members from the sea this morning.

They were given first aid at  Sangu and will be handed over to their families upon arrival at Payra Port.

The rescued sailors are: captain Qazi Abdullah Al Muhit, 35, chief engineer Hasan Reza Khalid, 32, chief officer Qazi Mahbubul Alam, second engineer Nur Alam Himel, 26, Mozammel Hossain, 24, Rafiqullah, 59, Md Zubair Hossain, 24, Sujon Mukherjee, 20, Md Shahab Uddin, 21, Shadat Hossain, 37, Zamirul Islam, 30, Shaheed Miah, 23, Md Raju, 25, and Abdur Rashid, 50.
