The first consignment of 1.65 thousand tonnes of onions imported from India would reach the country tonight via rail routes.
State minister for commerce Ahsanul Islam Titu made the disclosure at a meeting held on the ministry’s premises on Sunday.
As a result, from Monday, the Transport Corporation of Bangladesh would be able to sale onions at Tk40 per kilogram in Dhaka and Chattogram.
The rest of the imports would enter the country gradually.
