No Bangladeshi intruded India after Liberation War: Fakhrul

Shawdesh Desk: Bangladesh Nationalist Party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Wednesday said that no Bangladeshi intruded into India after the Liberation War.

The BNP leader made the comment while presiding over a rally cum human chain in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka demanding immediate and unconditional release of the party chairperson Khaleda Zia.

Mirza Fakhrul made the comment against the backdrop of publishing a number of reports in Indian media quoting Bharatia Janata Party leaders in the Indian state of Assam and elsewhere branding those dropped from Assam’s National Register of Citizens were Bangladeshis.

Assam published its NRC on August 31, 2019, dropping about 19 lakh people, most of which are Bangla speaking ones.

‘We are now facing threats from our neighbouring country’s Assam that Bangladeshis had intruded there and they would send them back. We clearly want to say no Bangladeshi intruded into India after the country’s War of Independence,’ Mirza Fakhrul said, adding, ‘A deep rooted conspiracy is being hatched to endanger Bangladesh.’

He criticised the Awami League government for their failure to send Rohingya people to their country even in two years.

‘Now they are unable to solve Rohingya crisis as they have no courage or capability. They are failing to solve Rohingya crisis due to their submissive foreign policy,’ he alleged.

Fakhrul said that Khaleda was enduring jail in a serious health condition and demanded her immediate release.

‘This government remains in power by robbing people’s rights to vote and had jailed her before the election. If Khaleda Zia remained free, the common people would resist the injustice,’ he said.

BNP standing committee members Moudud Ahmed, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy and Nazrul Islam Khan, vice-chairmen AZM Zahid Hossain and Ahmed Azam Khan, BNP chairperson’s advisors Abul Khayer Bhuiyan and Zainul Abdin Farroque and the party joint-secretaries general Mujibor Rahman Sarwar, Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, Khairul Kabir Khokon and Habib-un-Nabi Sohel also addressed the human chain, among others.
