Bangladeshi man receives bullet injuries in BSF firing in C’nawabganj

A Bangladeshi fisherman received bullet injuries reportedly in firing by the members of Indian Border Security Force along Poladanga border under Bholahat upazila in Chapainawabganj on Saturday morning.

The injured, Jahangir Alam, 24, son of Abdul Kuddus of village Kalonipara of Bholahat upazila, is now undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.

 

Jahangir said that a BSF member shot at him while he was catching fish in the River Mohananda inside Bangladesh territory on Saturday morning.

He said that local people rescued him and took him to Bholahat upazila health complex from where doctors referred him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.

Doctors at RCMH said that a bullet passed through Jahangir’s right hand.

Suman Kumar, officer-in-charge of Bholahat Police Station, said that they had sent a team of police to the spot where Jahangir was shot and wounded.

However, Border Guard Bangladesh-59 commander Lieutenant Colonel Golam Kibria said that he was unaware of the incident.
