A committee was formed on Sunday to investigate the explosion at a hotel in the city’s Board Bazar area that left 17 people injured.
Gazipur’s Deputy Commissioner ABM Shainul Islam formed the five-member investigation committee.
It has been asked to file a report within the next seven working days.
Thirteen among the injured in the early Sunday explosion on the ground floor of Tripty Hotel suffered burns.
Some of the injured staff said the explosion took place around 2am when they were getting ready to close the hotel.
Four firefighting units rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze, said Harun-ur-Rashid, deputy director of Gazipur Fire Service.
Firefighters also rescued a trapped security guard in the hotel.
It is unclear what triggered the explosion, the officer said.
