Seventeen people sustained burn injuries when a gas cylinder exploded at a restaurant at Board Bazar in Gazipur on Sunday, according to a report of News24, a private television channel.
Now 15 people are undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.
According to UNB report, some of the injured (staff) said the explosion took place at Tripty Hotel around 2:00am when they were getting ready to close the restaurant.
Four firefighting units rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze, said Harun-ur-Rashid, deputy director of Gazipur Fire Service.
Firefighters also rescued a trapped security guard from the hotel.
It is unclear what triggered the explosion, the officer said.
