M’singh, Cumilla city by-elections to be held on Mar 9: EC

The Election Commission has announced that by-elections to Mymensingh and Cumilla City Corporations will be held on March 9.

EC secretary Jahangir Alam announced the election schedule at a press conference at the EC Bhaban on Wednesday.

The schedule for 231 other elections, including municipality elections was also announced.

The EC secretary said that the last date for submission of nomination papers for the city corporations polls was February 13, scrutiny of nomination papers would be held on February 15, nomination withdrawal date was fixed on February 22 and symbols would be distributed on February 23.

He also said EVMs would be used in the city corporations, municipalities and zila parishad election as per the directives of chief election commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal.
