A 28-year-old man was stabbed to death by unidentified killers in Jhikargacha upazila of Jashore on Saturday morning.

The incident took place in Katakhal area of the upazila at about 8:00am.

The deceased was identified as Toufiq Hossain, 28.

Toufiq used to work in a poultry farm. He woke up at about 7:30am and left his house for work. When he reached the Katakhal intersection, unidentified attackers stabbed him randomly and fled the scene, said the deceased’s mother Rehana Khatun.

Toufiq was taken to Jhikargacha Upazila Health Complex where doctors referred him to Jashore General Hospital as his condition deteriorated. On the way he died from his injuries.

Jhikargacha Police Station officer-in-charge Kamal Hossain Bhuiyan said, ‘I heard that he was killed over an extra-marital affair. Police are investigating the incident. Operation is underway to arrest those involved in the murder.’
