Gunshots on AL’s procession in Tangail, 3 Jubo League men injured

Three Jubo League men were injured by bullets after independent candidate Sanwar Hossain’s followers ‘opened fire’ on their election procession in Tangail’s Sadar upazila on Sunday night.

The incident happened at 11pm in Baghil Union.

Police, however, detained two activists of Sanwar Hossain over the incident, according to a Bangla news portal.

The injured are Baghil Union Jubo League general secretary Rokunuzzaman Rokon, activists Siam and Emdadul. Rokunuzzaman was sent to Dhaka in critical condition.

AL candidate Mamunur Rashid said that his supporters brought out a procession at night in Baghil. Suddenly, independent candidate Sanwar’s followers started firing on the procession, leaving three AL supporters injured.

The injured were first taken to Tangail Sheikh Hasina Medical College Hospital.

Tangail Sadar Police Station OC Lokman Hossain said the situation is now under control.
