IU teachers slam UGC’s uniform recruitment policy

Shawdesh Desk: A section of Islamic University teachers formed a human chain on the campus demanding cancellation of the University Grants Commission’s proposal for uniform policy on the recruitment and promotion of public university teachers.

The human chain was formed under the banner of ‘General Teachers of Islamic University’ in front of Mrittunjoyee Mujib mural around 11:30am on the campus on Wednesday.

While addressing the human chain, speakers said that the policy was disharmonic with the autonomous universities. UGC should not lead the public universities under uniform policy.

Among others, professor Anwarul Haque Shopon, professor Mustafa Kamal, associate professor Rakibul Islam Rakib, Muntasir Rahman Shohan, Jashim Uddin, Ariful Islam, Hasnat Nahid and Inzamul Haque Sazal attended the human chain.
