BNP’s Dudu, Swapan placed on two-day remand

Dhaka metropolitan magistrate court on Monday placed main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party vice-chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu and its media cell convener Jahir Uddin Swapan on a two-day remand each in a case lodged over snatching of police weapon and vandalising the Liberation War Museum of Bangladesh Police.

Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury passed the order after police produced Dudu before the court while Swapan’s appearance was ensured from jail virtually.

 

Detective Branch of police inspector Abdul Hai, also Investigation officer of the case, sought a five-day remand for interrogation in the case filed with Paltan police station.

According to the case documents, BNP activists are following instructions and instigations of BNP top leaders.

BNP activists are vandalised police canteen and Liberation War Museum of Bangladesh Police.

They torched a duty post of police and snatched a pistol and magazine loaded with eight bullets from ASI Ershadul Haque, beating him indiscriminately.

The other accused in the case include BNP leaders Moazzem Hossain Alal, Mujibur Rahman Sarwar, Habibun Nabi Khan Sohel and Rafikul Islam Bakul.
