Shawdesh Desk: The BNP has been cleared by the authorities to organise a rally marking the 41st founding anniversary on Monday.
Police gave it the verbal permission to hold the rally in front of its headquarters in Dhaka’s Naya Paltan on some conditions, Md Anwar Hossain, deputy commissioner (Motijheel zone) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police said.
Confirming the news, BNP Assistant Organising Secretary Abdus Salam Azad said, they received “verbal permission” with some conditions to hold the rally in front of the party’s Nayapaltan central office after chairperson’s adviser Abul Khayer Bhuiyan and two other party leaders met Md Anwar Hossain, deputy commissioner (Motijheel zone) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police at his office.
The conditions set by police include ending the rally by 4:00pm and no gathering before and outside the venue of the rally. No-one will be allowed to carry sticks.
On September 1, 1978, Ziaur Rahman founded the party with a 19-point programme to develop a “self-reliant Bangladesh”.
