The main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said on Thursday that their Friday grand rally would be held in front of the party’s Naya Paltan central office in Dhaka at 2:00pm.
Addressing at a press conference at the party central office in the afternoon, the BNP leader said that preparations had already begun for this purpose.
Responding to a question whether the party got permission from the police for to hold the grand rally at the place, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, ‘We have informed the police that the rally will be held on Friday. The party’s Dhaka city leaders have started preparations for holding the rally.’
He also alleged that the police had already arrested over 500 leaders and activists at different places of Dhaka ahead of Friday’s rally.
Rizvi alleged that the ruling Awami League was holding their programmes occupying any place in Dhaka while police were imposing conditions for holding BNP programmes.
‘Tomorrow’s rally will be peaceful,’ he said and urged the police to cooperate to make their rally a success.
Dhaka north city BNP convener Amanullah Aman and Dhaka south city BNP convener Abdus Salam were also present at the press conference.
