Bangladesh bowlers struck in the early session of the opening day that put them in an advantageous position against Ireland in the one-off Test at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Tuesday.

With Shoriful Islam, Ebadot Hossain, and Taijul Islam claiming one wicket apiece, the Irish were reduced to 65-3 in 26 overs at lunch.

Ireland lost their opening duo Murry Commins and James McCollum for 27 runs after electing to bat.

Shoriful induced the early breakthrough, removing Murry for 5, while McCollum fell to Ebadot for 15.

Then in the third wicket stand, skipper Andy Balbirni and Harry Tector added 21 before the former was trapped leg before by Taijul for 16.

Tector and his partner Curtis Campher stood on 18 and 9 runs, respectively.

However, the home side lost their two reviews inside the first session as Balbirni and Tector survived a leg before appeal each by Taijul and Miraz in 10.1 and 13.4 overs, respectively.
