PM requests home-goers having fever to test blood

Shawdesh Desk:

Ruling Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Thursday said that the prime minister has requested Eid holidaymakers, who are suffering from fever, to have their blood tested before leaving Dhaka.

Obaidul Quader, also road, transport and bridges minister, said that prime minister Sheikh Hasina made the request after she returned from London to help curbing spread of dengue.

Quader came up with the remark while speaking at a programme organised by the party’s relief and social welfare sub-committee at Road 32 in Dhanmondi, marking the birthday of country’s founding president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s wife Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib.

He also urged people extend cooperation to the government instead of criticising it unnecessarily to tackle the dengue prevalence.

Referring to the prime minister’s directives to intensify the cleanliness drive, Quader said that now the only work was to check the life-threatening dengue.

Regarding Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s claim of the government’s failure in controlling dengue, Quader said that the BNP itself has failed to play its due role as a responsible opposition party.

He suggested BNP to recognise its own failure first before talking about the government’s failure.

AL relief and social welfare secretary Sujit Roy Nandi moderated the programme.
