The main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Saturday announced that they had deferred their scheduled mass procession in Dhaka to December 30 from December 24.
The announcement of the new date came at a press briefing at the party’s central office at Naya Paltan in Dhaka.
Addressing the press conference, the party standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan said that they would bring out their mass procession in Dhaka on December 30 but the mass procession in elsewhere in the country would be held on the scheduled date of December 24.
The BNP, from its Dhaka divisional rally at capital’s Golapbagh, on December 10 announced to bring out mass processions across Bangladesh on December 24.
After the announcement of the protest programme of BNP, the Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader requested the BNP not to bring out any procession on that day as Awami League’s national council would be held on December 24.
